I have done some program advertising to local school districts, timing my emails to go out right as teachers were getting back to school. I will likely do another advertising push, hoping to get the attention of educators once they are a little more settled into the school year.
We have set some field trip dates for the spring! Yay! Some are schools we have hosted before, others are new to our programs. I am working on setting a date with another school now who is interested in funding to help cover their transportation costs, which I am super grateful we can offer thanks to you all!
Part of my advertising included that we do in-classroom visits and attend event nights, so we have been invited to some STEM nights.
As part of my EE certification I am working on developing some lessons we will take and do in-classrooms for different grades. This includes an elementary wildlife program, middle school geology program, and high school invasive species' impact on biodiversity program. Much thanks to Tom Buckley for sharing his knowledge and resources on the park's geology.
A few weeks ago I had a brainstorming session with EE volunteers. It was a small gathering, but very productive. I used it as an opportunity to update volunteers on anything I was doing and brainstorm what next steps for the program could look like. Some volunteers were interested in helping to develop programs/lessons on particular topics of interest, so I am going to help guide them through lesson planning! I am excited to broaden the programs offered by the park, hoping to reach more students.
